Summary:
This role is responsible to ensure that adequate control framework in relation to the business operational activities is in place and monitor the performance of these controls in a consistent manner. This role is to support the requirements set out in Bank Negara Malaysia Guidelines on Operational and AML risk where financial institutions is required to establish policies, procedures and systems that ensure a sound internal and AML control environment.
Responsibilities:
- Establish the relevant policies and procedures to ensure that business operational control is managed in a commercially sensitive and practical manner;
- Ensure that business and AML operational control are managed adequately by adhering to the guidance and requirements set out by group and local regulator;
- Improve the business and AML operational control environment by establishing and implementing control improvement and standardization programmes;
- Provide effective governance, challenge and reporting of key business operational and AML controls;
- Co-ordinate internal control monitoring plans and ensure alignment with Risk Team, Compliance Team and Audit Team;
- Ensure that the management fully considers and effectively manage the operational and AML risk and control environment;
- Assess and report the adequacy of the business and AML operational controls environment by performing testing on these controls designed to mitigate risk are appropriate and functioning effectively; and
- Demonstrate compliance with all relevant external and internal rules including regulatory and group standards, manuals and policies; and adhere to the defined work practices, internal controls and risk management standards associated with this role.
Requirements:
1. Education : Degree level in Accountancy, Finance or related field. Having a professional certificate is an advantage.
2. Experience : 7 years or more experience in management position with exposure to appraisals, counselling, team building and staff development.
3. Skills:
- Meticulous, attention to detail combined with strong delivery focus and ability to meet aggressive timeframes with quality results.
- Strong leadership skills evidenced by the achievement of objectives together with a track record of development of individuals with strong organisation and planning skills along with the ability to handle capacity and MI reporting.
- Confident and able to communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external customers.
- Good understanding of compliance and audit frameworks and methodology.
- Good understanding of regulatory requirements.
