Head of Product Development (Remote)
We are a fast-growing e-commerce group with multiple brands and an established product pipeline. We are looking for a Head of Product Development to take full ownership of product execution from concept to launch and help us scale efficiently.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives on execution, not theory.
Role Overview
You will own the end-to-end product lifecycle across all brands, ensuring speed, quality, and commercial impact. You will work closely with founders, procurement, operations, marketing, and customer experience teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Own product concept, design, and specifications across all brands
- Translate founder ideas into clear product concepts, positioning, and use cases
- Classify products into:
- Core Products (main revenue drivers)
- Additional Products (supporting / add-on products)
- Plan and execute the product roadmap to meet launch cadence
- Lead product and packaging design direction with graphic designers
- Ensure Additional Products clearly support existing Core Products
- Manage new product development lifecycle: concept sampling spec lock
- Define and lock product specifications (formula, materials, packaging components)
- Coordinate sampling and testing through Procurement
- Review and approve samples against specs and design intent
- Work cross-functionally with Procurement, Operations, Marketing, and CX
- Define product quality standards and acceptance criteria
- Own product change management (reformulation, redesign, packaging updates)
- Review customer feedback and defect trends to drive product improvements
- Manage product lifecycle decisions (launch, improve, redesign, discontinue)
- Ensure clean and complete handoff to Procurement before pilot or scale
Must-Have Requirements
- Experience in DTC / e-commerce
- Proven ownership of product concept, design, and specifications
- Experience working closely with graphic designers and packaging
- Strong understanding of manufacturing constraints (MOQ, lead time, materials)
- Comfortable handing off clear documentation to Procurement
- Strong documentation and execution discipline
- Background in beauty, fragrance, supplements, FMCG
- Experience working with SEA / China manufacturers
- Experience managing multiple SKUs and variants
KPIs
- 1 core product launched every 2 months
- 1 additional / support product launched monthly
- 1 new sub-brand per year
Compensation
- Malaysia-based: MYR 12,000 / month
- International: USD 3,500 4,500 / month
- (Final offer based on experience and execution strength)
