Job Description

Job Summary

Head of Product to lead our solar energy product portfolio. The Head of Product will serve as the single point of contact and decision owner for all product improvements, holding end-to-end accountability for product KPIs (technical, operational, and commercial). The ideal candidate will bridge technical expertise with commercial acumen, translating customer insights into an actionable product roadmap while protecting product profitability and ensuring alignment across Sales, Operations, and Design.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Performance & Profitability

  • Own and continuously monitor end-to-end product performance, including technical reliability, operational efficiency (install cycle times, defect rates), and commercial success (conversion and upsell rates).
  • Establish clear product KPIs, providing regular reporting to identify underperforming SKUs and conduct root-cause analyses on product issues.
  • Hold full ownership of product economics, maintaining visibility into the cost structure (hardware, logistics, installation, warranty) and P&L.
  • Make strategic trade-off decisions regarding pricing, incentives, and promos to protect margins and ensure profitability during RTO campaigns.

2. Product Strategy, Innovation & Roadmap

  • Own and maintain the product roadmap, prioritizing short-term fixes, mid-term enhancements, and long-term strategic bets to ensure cross-team alignment.
  • Drive product innovation across new offerings, financing models, and experience-led improvements, ensuring all innovations are grounded in business and operational feasibility.
  • Act as the central decision maker for all product-related improvements, prioritizing the backlog based on impact versus effort.

3. Specifications & Positioning

  • Define, document, and enforce product specifications (system design, component selection, installation constraints) to ensure alignment between sales promises, design, and actual installation.
  • Own product positioning across customer segments (homeowner, condo, SME), ensuring clear differentiation versus competitors and consistent messaging across all channels.
  • Assist in developing pricing strategies and value propositions to drive sales growth and market penetration.

4. Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis

  • Lead market and competitive intelligence efforts, maintaining deep knowledge of market trends, regulatory changes, and evolving customer expectations.
  • Maintain a centralized repository of competitor product specs, pricing benchmarks, campaigns, and TP structures to inform proactive product decisions.
  • Provide strategic insights to senior management based on market intelligence to inform business strategy.

5. Customer Centricity & Experience Ownership

  • Own the end-to-end customer experience, optimizing for clarity of expectations, system aesthetics, and post-installation performance transparency to reduce disputes and escalations.
  • Synthesize inputs from customer feedback, sales objections, and post-installation data to clearly articulate customer pain points and translate them into tangible product or process enhancements.
  • Design products with the Installer Experience in mind, ensuring clear specifications that reduce on-site ambiguity, lower operational friction, and improve workmanship consistency.

6. Technical Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as the primary technical expert for the solar energy product line, providing advanced support to sales teams, partners, and customers.
  • Mentor team members and provide guidance on complex technical issues related to solar energy system design and integration.
  • Collaborate closely with sales, marketing, and cross-functional teams to develop sales enablement materials, technical documentation, and product training programs.
