Job Summary:
In this role at CelcomDigi, we are seeking a visionary and commercially astute leader for Technology Architecture and Innovation with significant experience in the telecommunications sector. This strategic role is pivotal in shaping our technology roadmap, particularly in developing and integrating cutting-edge solutions leveraging 5G, advanced analytics, and AI-driven data products. You will define architectural standards, drive innovation, and ensure our technology landscape is robust, scalable, and secure. Taking on the role of an evangelist you are someone who can bridge IT, Networks, and the business to articulate the future of technology and its interaction with business objectives, thus this role requires the ability to not only design technically excellent solutions but also to articulate their commercial value and effectively secure buy-in from diverse business and technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the research, identification and development of target technology architecture, roadmap, standards, patterns, operating models and best practices, particularly relevant to 5G, Network Functions, Cloud, OSS/BSS, Network Automation and Orchestration, Telco Data Analytics, and AI/ML applications in the telecom domain.
- Ensure technology architecture aligns with business strategies, supports new product development, and enhances customer experience within the telco space, as well as cross-functional architecture alignment across the Technology Division (Strategy, Solutions, Engineering, and IT).
- Develop appropriate technical recommendations by utilizing technology, functional, and industry knowledge to address business and technical requirements, and deliver innovations and transformation journey by leveraging analytical and digital capabilities to shape operational excellence.
- Provide expert technical guidance for designing and implementing complex solutions, particularly those involving 5G core/RAN technologies, big data platforms for network/customer analytics, and AI models for optimization, prediction, or personalization.
- Champion innovation initiatives, translating technical possibilities into tangible business opportunities and compelling commercial propositions, and foster a culture of commercially aware innovation within the teams. Collaborate and form partnership with external partners and vendors in the technology ecosystem.
- Lead the architecture review process and serve as the process owner for architecture governance forums.
- Build and manage a dynamic, highly motivated, high-performance team with forward-thinking capabilities
Requirements:
- Deep Telco Domain knowledge: Proven experience and strong understanding of current and emerging technologies in IT, Mobile and Fixed networks, such as 5G, Cloud, Service Orchestration, Software-Defined Networking, Telco API and Data Analytics, AI/ML applications in Telecom, Fixed-Mobile Convergence, and OSS/BSS Systems and Integration
- Service Architecture Expertise: Strong understanding of service-oriented architecture (SOA) principles and experience in designing and implementing service-based systems, and the ability to translate business requirements into technology solutions and to demonstrate the business value of technology investments.
- Data Management and Analytics Knowledge: Understands data platform, data management principles, data architecture design, and development of AI applications using large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), and fine-tuning techniques.
- Commercial Acumen & Value Articulation: Demonstrated ability to link technical solutions to tangible business value, build compelling business cases, and articulate commercialization strategies.
- Innovation and Collaboration: A passion for exploring new technologies and a knack for developing innovative solutions to business challenges, with proven ability to work effectively across technical, product, commercial, and operational teams within a telco context.
- Experience in leading multi-disciplinary technology team and demonstrated ability to lead and inspire technical teams and influence across functions.
- Stakeholder Influence: Proven track record of successfully presenting to and gaining buy-in from senior business and technical stakeholders for significant technology initiatives.
- Degree or Master in Engineering / Information Technology / Computer Science.
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in IT/Networks/Technology, with at least 3 years in a technical/ solution/ enterprise architecture role specifically within or creating solutions for the Telecommunications industry and/or experience leading a team.
- Technically adept with strong analytical, technical solutioning and problem-solving skills
- Product engineering focused and familiar with 3GPP/TM Forum standards.
- Strong self-motivation and result orientated.
- Ability to build consensus and foster change in ambiguous settings.
- Good team development with a strong ability to lead, inspire and motivate far beyond own line.
- Excellent communication skills; able to explain complex industry concepts in non-technical terms
