Job Description

The Head, Projects & Transformation role will drive systems enhancement, workflow optimisation and productivity uplift across treasury operations, supporting service excellence, operational resilience and scalability across the region. The role plays a key part in advancing Maybank's ROAR30 strategic priorities by modernising operating models, redesigning processes and embedding sustainable digital capabilities within Treasury Operations.

Job Requirements

Role Purpose

  • Drive large‑scale digital and operational transformation across Regional Treasury Operations.
  • Partner closely with the Head, Regional Treasury Operations to translate strategy into executable, technology‑enabled transformation programmes.
  • Enable simpler, faster, more resilient and customer‑centric treasury operations through systems enhancement, automation, process re‑engineering and workflow redesign.
  • Deliver sustainable organisation design and Target Operating Model (TOM) changes, supported by strong governance, risk management, change management and capability uplift.
  • Lead transformation in a manner that reflects Maybank's values and 6 Leadership Behaviours, demonstrating ownership, collaboration, integrity and people leadership.
  • The key responsibilities of this role, among others are :-

1. Treasury Operations Transformation

  • Lead and deliver multi‑year transformation initiatives across Treasury Operations, aligned with Group Operations strategy and ROAR30 priorities.
  • Drive standardisation and modernisation of treasury operating models to support regional scalability and consistency.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service quality, turnaround time, control and resilience across markets.

2. Systems Enhancement & Digital Enablement

  • Oversee treasury systems enhancement, including workflow tools and supporting platforms, to improve straight‑through processing, transparency and operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with Group Technology & Digital teams to define requirements, prioritise enhancements and ensure effective implementation.
  • Champion simplified, standardised and future‑ready system solutions across Regional Treasury Operations.

3. Workflow, Productivity & Process Optimisation

  • Lead end‑to‑end process reviews to eliminate manual interventions, reduce operational friction and uplift productivity.
  • Embed automation, lean principles and workflow optimisation to enable sustainable efficiency gains.
  • Define and track productivity and efficiency metrics, ensuring measurable and tangible outcomes.

4. Programme Delivery & Governance

  • Lead complex, cross‑functional transformation programmes involving Treasury, Operations, Technology, Risk, Compliance and regional stakeholders.
  • Establish strong programme governance, business cases, benefits tracking and disciplined execution.
  • Provide regular updates and insights to senior management on progress, risks and outcomes.

5. Change Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead change management to ensure adoption, capability uplift and sustained behavioural change within treasury operations teams.
  • Build and lead a high‑performing transformation and productivity team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ownership and collaboration across Regional Treasury Operations.

Job Requirements

  • 12–15 years experience in banking, financial services or consulting, with significant exposure to treasury operations and digital/operational transformation.
  • Strong expertise in systems enhancement, operating model redesign, process optimisation, workflow improvement and automation.
  • Proven experience leading programmes that span business, operations and technology, including engagement on system requirements and readiness.
  • Solid understanding of treasury products and operations, controls, regulatory and operational risk considerations.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and deliver outcomes in complex, multi‑country environments.
  • Strong academic qualifications.
  • Demonstrates ownership, accountability and the ability to build future‑ready capabilities within Regional Treasury Operations.
