This role supports HP ink cartridge manufacturing by partnering with internal teams and manufacturing partners to ensure processes meet
throughput and quality expectations, and by driving
data-driven investigations and continuous improvement. The engineer will collaborate with
R&D and NPI stakeholders to support smooth transitions from development/prototyping into manufacturing, contribute to process validation/qualification activities, and participate in cross-functional projects across the product lifecycle (solution design, validation, tooling, and issue resolution).
This position is suitable for
fresh graduates and early-career engineers who are willing to be hands-on in automated manufacturing environments and learn structured engineering methods (e.g., FMEA) to improve process capability and decision making.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Monitoring, Analysis & Improvement
- Work with manufacturing partners to help sustain stable operations and ensure process performance meets quality and throughput requirements.
- Use manufacturing data to identify trends, investigate gaps, and support actions that improve process capability and performance.
- Support monitoring of manufacturing activities, issue tracking, and structured problem-solving with guidance from senior engineers.
- NPI / Proto / Qualification Support (Bottle & Printhead)
- Collaborate with R&D and NPI teams to support transitions from development/prototyping to manufacturing and help deliver program-defined quality and cost goals.
- Support qualification strategy for new processes/tools and assist with execution, documentation, and knowledge transfer across sites and partners.
- Participate in project work across product lifecycle stages, including solution design, validation, tooling, and issue resolution.
- Reporting & Communication
- Build clear, concise reporting to communicate status, findings, trends, and improvement opportunities to stakeholders.
- Support creation of dashboards/reports to visualize performance trends and insights (where applicable).
- Technology Adoption / Operational Excellence
- Contribute to adoption of new technologies in manufacturing processes, including smart manufacturing/Industry 4.0 concepts when relevant.
- Working Model / Site Support
- Willingness to work with external manufacturing partners and travel regionally as required to support sustaining and qualification runs (e.g., Singapore/Johor footprint depending on assignment).
Required Qualifications
This role is based in Johor.
Education
- Bachelor's (or Master's) degree in Engineering or equivalent (e.g., Mechanical / Manufacturing / Materials / Chemical / Electrical).
Experience
- Fresh graduate or up to 3 years relevant experience (internships, co-op, industrial attachment, university projects valued).
Technical / Functional
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and eagerness to learn in a high-volume / automated environment; hands-on mindset.
- Data-driven mindset: comfortable using process/manufacturing data to support investigations and decisions.
- Familiarity or exposure to structured engineering methods such as FMEA and process capability improvement is an advantage.
- Good written and verbal communication skills to work across functions, suppliers/partners, and global stakeholders.
- Good organizational skills and ability to operate in a matrix environment across cultures/time zones (as applicable to NPI/proto work).
