Job Description

SENIOR HR BUSINESS PARTNER UNIONIZED ENVIRONMENT, MNC

Charterhouse, Singapore are supporting a US MNC in Petaling Jaya in their search for an HR Business Partner for an individual contributor role, reporting to the Regional Head of HR as part of the regional HRBP team.

This will be a traditional and hand on HR role that will require this person to travel once a week to various sites across Malaysia, (Johor Bahru, Penang, Kuching and Brunei), so flexibility and mobility is important for business.

There is a headcount of around 500 for the blue and white collar workforce and requires a candidate with strong knowledge of local labour laws and working with Unions across industrial relations.

Responsibilities

Union & Employee Relations

  • Lead union negotiations and manage union-related matters end-to-end, ensuring compliance with labour laws and company policies.
  • Address employee concerns promptly and foster a positive work environment.
  • Act as the primary liaison between management and union representatives to maintain constructive relationships.

Employee Engagement

  • Design and implement employee engagement programs for both office and field teams to enhance morale and retention.
  • Organize initiatives that promote inclusion, recognition, and connectivity across dispersed locations.
  • Partner with supervisors to ensure engagement activities align with operational needs.

Talent & Workforce Planning

  • Support workforce planning and ensure readiness for future skill requirements.
  • Partner with supervisors to identify training needs and implement development programs for mechanics and technical staff.

Performance & Development

  • Drive performance management processes and support career development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with managers to create upskilling plans for technical roles.
  • Data & Insights
  • Use HR data and feedback from site visits to inform decisions and improve employee experience.

Attributes

  • 810+ years of HR experience, with strong exposure to field operations and workforce engagement.
  • Proven experience in union negotiations and labour relations management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
