Key Accountabilities
The HR Manager acts as a
strategic HR partner and hands-on leader, driving a comprehensive people agenda in a
fast-paced, evolving business and Shared Services (SSC) environment. This role requires strong depth in
Malaysian labor laws and industrial relations, proven capability in
change and leadership transformation, and the ability to build
progressive, empowered HR practices beyond transactional or policing approaches.
The HR Manager will balance
operational excellence and strategic impact, ensure governance, fairness, and compliance while enabling engagement, capability building, and sustainable performance. The role will report to the HR Director based in Australia.
Key Accountabilities
- Strategic HR Partnership
- Partner closely with site and functional leaders as a trusted advisor, providing practical, commercially grounded HR solutions.
- Understand and apply knowledge across the full HR spectrum, talent, rewards, engagement, ER, succession, and workforce planning and collaborating with COE functions as required.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, capability, and employee experience through cross-functional collaboration.
- Change Management & Leadership Transformation
- Support and lead people aspects of organizational change, including operating model shifts, role redesign, leadership transitions, and cultural evolution.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of the how of change by having effective communication, stakeholder alignment, and change adoption.
- Coach leaders to operate in a more empowered environment, moving away from transactional, compliance-only, or policing behaviors.
- Industrial Relations, Governance & Malaysian Statutory Compliance
- Lead and manage industrial relations matters, including misconduct cases, domestic inquiries, disciplinary actions, grievances, and dispute resolution.
- Ensure consistent, fair, and well-documented application of policies, aligned with global standards and local legal requirements.
- SSC Delivery, HR Roadmap & Capability Building
- Support effective HR Shared Services (SSC) delivery, ensuring service quality, speed, and consistency.
- Contribute to and execute the HR operations roadmap, identifying process gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Lead capability-building initiatives to strengthen HR maturity in a fast-changing, high-volume environment.
- Employee Engagement, Culture & Wellbeing
- Design and implement employee engagement initiatives that strengthen motivation, connection, and organizational commitment.
- Drive wellbeing initiatives, ensuring they are embedded into people's day-to-day practices.
- Analyze engagement feedback and translate insights into practical, impactful action plans.
- Talent Development & Succession Planning
- Lead succession planning and talent discussions to ensure leadership continuity and critical role coverage as per the Global Guidelines.
- Support performance management, coaching, and development conversations across levels.
- Foster a strong learning and feedback culture aligned with business growth.
- HR Operations Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Oversee end-to-end HR operations, including employee relations, payroll oversight, compensation & benefits administration, insurance, and leave management.
- Ensure accuracy of HR data, records, and reporting.
- Lead by example in driving process improvements, closing gaps, and introducing new initiatives that enhance efficiency and employee experience.
- Office & Administrative Management
- Oversee office administration, facilities, security, and workplace safety.
- Manage employee travel, accommodation, and logistics with a focus on cost efficiency and service quality.
- Plan and oversee company events, training sessions, and engagement activities.
Success Profile
- Strong Industrial Relations and Malaysian statutory expertise
- Experience in change management and leadership transformation
- Solid understanding of end-to-end HR (strategic and operational)
- Effective in fast-paced, evolving environments
- Consultative, empowering leadership style with strong execution discipline
- More than 10 years of relevant HRM, ideally from a Multinational environment
