Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director People Singapore & Malaysia to lead our HR function across the sub-cluster.

This is a key leadership role reporting to the Vice President of People, Southeast Asia cluster, and overseeing all HR Operations and business partnering in Singapore and Malaysia.

You will play a vital role in ensuring the effective and efficient management of human resources activities across both Singapore and Malaysia, directly managing the HR teams in both locations.

You will contribute to the development and implementation of HR strategies, policies, and initiatives that align with the company's objectives and values, with a strong focus on operational excellence and business transformation during this period of evolution.

Key Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with the VP of People (SEA) to execute HR strategies and initiatives that support business objectives across the Singapore and Malaysia sub-cluster.
  • Support the VP of People (SEA) in the planning and delivery of Post Merger Integration (PMI) activities and organizational alignment initiatives to meet business goals.
  • Manage organizational design and workforce optimization initiatives with a people-centric approach, ensuring all processes are handled with professionalism, discretion, and strict adherence to local labor laws.
  • Drive HR operational excellence by overseeing the delivery of all people services, ensuring processes are streamlined, efficient, and scalable.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the HR teams in both locations, ensuring high performance, accurate administration, and continuous professional development.
  • Oversee the full employee lifecycle across the sub-cluster, including strategic recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and offboarding processes.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and statutory requirements (Singapore Employment Act and Malaysian Employment Act 1955).
  • Manage employee relations matters and industrial relations (IR) in Malaysia, specifically dealing with unions and maintaining a positive working environment in adherence to the Industrial Relations Act 1967.
  • Maintain oversight of compensation and benefits administration, including payroll coordination and statutory management (MOM, EPF, SOCSO, EIS, PCB) for both countries.
  • Assist in HR-related communications and employee engagement activities to foster a strong company culture during organizational change.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 12-15 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3-5 years as a Country HR Lead or Cluster Lead.
  • Proven experience in Post Merger Integration (PMI) and a track record of managing strategic business transformation and organizational design.
  • Strong foundation in HR Operations with the ability to audit and optimize administrative processes to drive business efficiency.
  • Deep understanding of the Singapore Employment Act, Malaysian Employment Act 1955, and Industrial Relations Act 1967.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite; experience with HR software (Oracle/SuccessFactors) is advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
