Purpose of the Role:

As Human Resources Officer supporting our Australia office, you will be a key partner in delivering efficient, compliant, and employee-centered HR services. You will oversee the full employee lifecycle—from recruitment and onboarding to performance, engagement, and offboarding—helping foster a positive and professional workplace culture across our Australian operations.

Key Responsibilities

HR Operations & Support:

  • Coordinate end-to-end recruitment processes for Australia-based roles, including job advertising, candidate screening, interview scheduling, reference checks, and employment documentation.
  • Manage onboarding, induction programs, probation reviews, and new employee documentation for Australian staff.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and HR databases in compliance with privacy laws and legislative requirements.
  • Support performance management processes, reviews, and related documentation.
  • Assist with staff exits, including documentation, exit interviews, and record updates.
  • Review and update position descriptions across the organization.
  • Support leave tracking, timesheet processing, and payroll-related HR queries for Australian employees.

HR Administration & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with Australian employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act 2009, National Employment Standards, and relevant Awards.
  • Assist with the review and maintenance of HR policies, procedures, staff handbooks, and templates tailored to Australian regulations.
  • Prepare HR documentation and records for internal and external audits.
  • Maintain training, professional development, and Work Health & Safety compliance records.
  • Respond to routine HR queries from staff and managers in a timely, professional manner.

Employee Support & Engagement:

  • Contribute to staff wellbeing, engagement initiatives, and internal communication efforts.
  • Liaise with recruitment agencies and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Provide administrative support to the HR Director and management team.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • 2-3 years experience in HR administration or a generalist HR role.
  • Working knowledge of Australian employment laws, including the Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards.
  • Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, and employee administration.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable

  • Experience working in the education, training, or RTO sector.
  • Familiarity with HRIS or payroll systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Personal Attributes

  • Professional, reliable, and able to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused, and well-organized.
  • Approachable and able to collaborate effectively with employees and managers at all levels.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team-oriented with a commitment to high service standards.

Why Join SCEI

  • Be part of a purpose-driven organization supporting the health, community, and education sectors.
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative environment with exposure to both vocational and higher education.
  • Contribute to positive employee experiences and organizational growth.
