Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced EXIM Lead to drive end-to-end import/export operations, cross-border logistics, and vendor development. This role requires strong hands-on expertise in global trade regulations, international shipping, customs compliance, and stakeholder management to ensure seamless, cost-efficient, and timely movement of goods across geographies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Import & Export Operations Management
- Lead end-to-end EXIM operations including documentation, customs clearance, freight coordination, and delivery execution.
- Ensure smooth cross-border logistics processes across multiple countries and trade lanes.
- Manage international shipping escalations and resolve critical operational challenges impacting business commitments.
2. Global Trade Compliance & Regulatory Expertise
- Stay updated on global trade regulations, customs laws, and compliance requirements.
- Ensure all import/export activities adhere to statutory guidelines, fair practices, and internal governance frameworks.
- Proactively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies for trade-related disruptions.
3. Vendor Development & Partner Ecosystem Building
- Drive vendor development processes including onboarding, capability building, and performance management.
- Build strong relationships with freight forwarders, CHA partners, 3PL providers, and international logistics vendors.
- Negotiate commercial terms to deliver cost savings and sustainable value.
4. Business Partnering & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a strategic partner to internal teams across supply chain, category, finance, and leadership.
- Handle deviations such as stuck consignments due to documentation gaps or customs issues with urgency and ownership.
- Ensure a business-first approach while balancing compliance, cost, and speed.
5. Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Drive exception handling and continuous improvement initiatives across EXIM processes.
- Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency gains, and cost optimization.
- Build scalable SOPs for international logistics in a high-growth environment.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 58+ years of experience in EXIM operations, cross-border logistics, or international trade management.
- Strong expertise in import/export documentation, customs clearance, freight forwarding, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven track record in managing escalations, international shipping challenges, and time-critical consignments.
- Experience in vendor development, commercial negotiations, and partner management.
- Prior exposure to startup or high-velocity environments preferred.
