Role Description The Indirect Tax Assistant Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in WP Kuala Lumpur. The role involves managing and reviewing indirect tax advisory and compliance work, including preparation and review of tax computations, returns, and related documentation. Responsibilities include analyzing indirect tax implications of business transactions, assisting in tax planning, and supporting clients during tax audits, investigations, and queries from authorities. The Indirect Tax Assistant Manager will work closely with senior team members to develop solutions, prepare technical opinions, and contribute to client presentations and reports. The role also includes supervising junior team members, coordinating with clients to gather information, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of indirect tax legislation, and ensuring high-quality, timely deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of indirect tax regulations, guidelines, and practices, with experience in GST/SST or similar indirect tax frameworks.
  • Experience in tax advisory, including indirect tax analysis, tax planning, audit support, and preparation of tax documentation.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret legislation, assess tax risks, and propose practical solutions.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly to clients and work collaboratively with internal teams.
  • Good organizational and time management abilities, with attention to detail and the capacity to handle multiple engagements and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and relevant tax or accounting software; familiarity with data analysis tools is an advantage.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field; professional qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CTIM) are an added advantage.
  • Prior experience in a tax consulting or professional services environment, particularly in indirect tax, is preferred.
  • Commitment to ethical standards, continuous learning, and staying current with changes in tax laws and regulations.
