JOB PURPOSE
The IT Support Engineer plays a key role in maintaining the stability and efficiency of the organization's IT environment. This position involves providing technical support to users, proactively monitoring systems, implementing maintenance tasks, and participating in IT projects.
The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of IT infrastructure, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to contribute to both daily operations and strategic IT initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY
Provide Technical Support:
- Act as the primary point of contact for end-users seeking assistance with hardware, software, network, and application issues, providing timely and effective solutions.
Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues:
- Diagnose and resolve a wide range of technical problems through various channels (phone, email, in-person, remote access), escalating complex issues to higher-level support when necessary.
Hardware and Software Management:
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computer hardware (desktops, laptops, peripherals), operating systems (Windows and macOS) and various software applications.
Network Support:
- Assist users with network connectivity issues, troubleshoot basic network problems (Wi-Fi, LAN), and potentially manage network accounts and access.
User Account Management:
- Create, modify, and disable user accounts, manage access permissions, and perform password resets in accordance with security policies.
Documentation and Knowledge Base:
- Accurately document support requests, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions. Contribute to the development and maintenance of a knowledge base for common issues and solutions.
System Monitoring and Maintenance:
- Monitor IT systems for potential issues, perform routine maintenance tasks (patching, updates), and proactively identify and address potential problems.
Security Awareness and Compliance:
- Adhere to security policies and procedures, educate users on security best practices, and report any security incidents.
Inventory Management:
- Assist with the tracking and management of IT assets, including hardware and software licenses.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work effectively with other IT team members and communicate technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical users.
Project Participation:
- Participate in IT projects, such as system upgrades, deployments, and migrations, as required.
Training and Guidance:
- Provide basic training and guidance to end-users on the use of IT systems and software.
Remote Support:
- Utilize remote access tools to diagnose and resolve user issues efficiently.
Basic server administration tasks:
- Perform basic server administration tasks, including user management, monitoring server health, and performing routine maintenance.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in an IT support capacity preferred.
- Proven experience in delivering technical assistance to end-users across varied environments.
- Advantageous to possess relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CCNA, CCNP).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are essential.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in supporting Windows and/or macOS operating systems; familiarity with Windows Server is a plus.
- Strong understanding of networking principles, including TCP/IP, OSI Layer, network security, Internet protocols (DNS, SMTP email), network infrastructure (routing and switching), and secure connectivity (VPN).
- Experience with Lark application is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., Hyper-V) is advantageous.
- Experience with firewalls, particularly Fortinet, is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with other cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
