Job description:
Purpose of the Position
The IT Support Officer is responsible for providing comprehensive IT support and maintenance across the organization. This includes managing hardware and software systems, supporting network infrastructure, assisting users with technical issues, and ensuring the security and efficiency of all IT operations to facilitate smooth day-to-day activities.
Key Responsibilities
IT Support & Troubleshooting
· Provide first-line support to staff and students for hardware, software, network, and access issues.
· Manage user accounts, email systems, and access permissions.
· Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to computers, printers, AV equipment, and connectivity.
· Support the setup and operation of audio-visual and other classroom technology.
· Coordinate with external vendors or central IT teams for escalated issues.
Hardware & Software Maintenance
· Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain hardware and software systems.
· Monitor system performance and ensure security updates and patches are applied regularly.
· Maintain inventory of IT equipment, manage repairs, and oversee lifecycle management.
Network & Infrastructure Support
· Assist with network setup, configuration of routers, switches, access points, and CCTV systems.
· Support Wi-Fi connectivity, VPN, and other network services.
· Ensure network security and data privacy compliance.
Administrative & User Management
· Create and deactivate user accounts across systems and platforms.
· Assist staff and students with account access and basic technical training.
· Maintain documentation for IT procedures, user guides, and inventory records.
Reporting & Documentation
· Prepare weekly reports on system status, issues resolved, and upcoming maintenance needs.
· Document incidents, resolutions, and system configurations for audit and compliance purposes.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education
Experience
· 2–5 years of experience in IT support, hardware/software maintenance, or network administration.
· Prior experience in a similar role within an educational or corporate environment is preferred.
Technical & Administrative Skills
· Strong knowledge of PC hardware, software, and network troubleshooting.
· Experience with Windows Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Azure.
· Familiarity with network devices such as Cisco routers, switches, and access points.
· Knowledge of CCTV, VOIP, and basic cybersecurity principles.
· Ability to manage user accounts, permissions, and IT documentation.
· Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask.
· Proficient in English (spoken and written).
· Proficiency in Chinese would be an advantage.
Soft Skills
Preferred Qualifications
· Cisco certification or relevant networking certifications.
· Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals or related certifications.
· Experience supporting AV systems and classroom technology.
· Knowledge of compliance standards relevant to the organization.
