Job Description

Job Summary:

The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, management, and optimization of the universitys IT infrastructure. This includes servers, storage systems, networking equipment, and other foundational technologies that support academic and administrative functions. The role requires a proactive approach to ensuring system reliability, performance, and security.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure Design and Management:

Design and implement scalable and resilient infrastructure solutions to support the universitys needs.

Manage and maintain servers, storage systems, and network equipment, ensuring high availability and performance.
Monitor and optimize infrastructure performance, including troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise.
Security and Compliance:

Ensure that infrastructure systems are secure and compliant with university policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Implement and maintain security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and data encryption.
Project Management: Lead or participate in infrastructure-related projects, including hardware upgrades, software installations, and data migrations.

Collaborate with other IT staff and university departments to plan and execute projects effectively.

Documentation and Reporting: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure systems, including configurations, procedures, and policies.
Prepare and present regular reports on system performance, incidents, and improvements.

Support and Troubleshooting:

Provide technical support and troubleshooting for infrastructure-related issues, including on-call support as needed.
Work closely with other IT teams to resolve cross-functional problems and enhance overall system reliability.
