Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for an Inspector of Work (Mechanical & Electrical) based in WP. Kuala Lumpur. The Inspector of Work M&E will conduct daily inspections of mechanical and electrical works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements. The role involves monitoring contractors workmanship and progress, verifying installation methods, materials, and testing procedures, and reporting any non-conformances or safety issues. The Inspector of Work M&E will maintain detailed site records, prepare inspection reports, and assist in coordinating site meetings with consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders. The role also includes supporting quality assurance processes, assisting in commissioning and testing of M&E systems, and providing technical input to resolve site-related issues in a timely manner.
Qualifications
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services, including installation, testing, and commissioning of systems such as HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, lighting, and power distribution.
  • Experience in site supervision, inspection, and quality control of M&E works within property development, construction, or related industries.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and local regulatory requirements for M&E works, as well as safety and health practices at construction sites.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and coordination drawings for M&E services.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills, including maintaining site records, preparing inspection reports, and tracking non-conformance and rectification works.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for coordinating with contractors, consultants, and internal project teams.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving site issues.
  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services Engineering, or a related field; relevant Inspector of Work certification and membership with professional bodies are advantageous.
  • Prior experience in high-rise, mixed-use, or large commercial projects is an added advantage.
