1. Continuous Patient Monitoring
- Monitor vital signs (heart rate, BP, oxygen level, etc.)
- Observe for any sudden changes in condition
- Interpret data from monitors and take immediate action
2. Critical Patient Care
- Care for patients on ventilators
- Manage patients with severe trauma, organ failure, post-surgery complications
- Perform suctioning, wound care, and hygiene for immobile patients
3. Medication Administration
- Administer IV medications, drips, and life-saving drugs
- Calculate precise dosages (very important in ICU)
- Monitor for side effects or adverse reactions
4. Operating Medical Equipment
Use ICU equipment such as:
- Ventilators
- Infusion pumps
- Cardiac monitors
5. Emergency Response
- Respond quickly to emergencies (cardiac arrest, respiratory failure)
- Perform CPR and assist in resuscitation procedures
- Work closely with doctors during critical interventions
6. Patient Assessment & Documentation
- Perform detailed head-to-toe assessments
- Record patient progress, treatments, and changes accurately
- Update doctors and multidisciplinary team regularly
Job Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing
- Must be registered with the Nursing Board Malaysia
- Must hold a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant working experience in ICU or HDU.
- With Post Basic in ICU, CCU or Neuroscience is required and would be an added advantage
