JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
To be responsible for carrying out the role of a Development Intern on selected projects that are assigned by the Head of Production and Development of Astro Shaw. The role of a Development Intern will primarily entail reviewing scripts/proposals and assisting in overseeing the script to screen process for film and/or TV projects undertaken by Astro Shaw. It includes performing the following services:
Development Executive Tasks
- To read and evaluate scripts, proposals and work samples from external and internal sources as well as to compile reviews, notes and evaluations of the same.
- To assist in creating and developing film/tv proposal decks for pitching purposes which includes working closely with Astro Shaw Development Executives to come up with appropriate graphics as well as write-ups for ensuring the proposal decks are effective.
Development
- To assist in the writing and/or developing of scripts for film and/or TV projects assigned by the Head of Production and Development of Astro Shaw and to work the same within the timelines specified.
- To make alterations, amendments and changes to scripts of the assigned projects after consultation with the assigned projects in-house Producer/Writer or Development Executive in order to achieve the goal and vision of the company.
- To review scripts written for Astro Shaw's film or TV projects and to provide clear and constructive notes to enhance them so that the goal and vision of the company is adhered to.
- To attend all script writing discussion sessions and/or script development meetings and contribute to these sessions/meetings. To record in writing all key points of discussions made throughout these meetings and present them to the assigned projects in-house Producer/Writer or Development Executive.
Pre-Production & Production
- To review and advise on the creative aspects of the assigned projects throughout the pre-production and production stages to assist the assigned projects in-house Producer/Writer or Development Executive in ensuring the script, as approved by Astro Shaw, is translated accurately to screen and ensure the overall product is consistent with Astro Shaw's requirements and expectations. This includes reviewing and assisting in attaining necessary approvals for cast options, reviewing creative/pre-production decks submitted by the commissioned Producer/Production House that includes location selections, props, wardrobe and makeup stylistics and overall stylistics and tone of the programme.
- To assist in overseeing the pre-production and production stages of the assigned projects by working closely with the assigned projects in-house Producer/Writer or Development Executive and to assist in troubleshooting issues throughout the two stages so as to ensure that schedules are enforced and adhered to and that output of the project is in line with Astro Shaw's release slate and strategies.
- To attend pre-production meetings and the shoot when necessary and when requested for by the assigned projects in-house Producer/Writer or Development Executive.
Post-Production, Marketing & Release
- To review the different draft edits that are attained throughout the post-production process (offline and online editing) and to assist in coordinating review sessions with Astro Shaw stakeholders to ensure input from the Astro Shaw team is attained.
- To assist in communicating these notes and feedback on offline and online edit drafts to the assigned projects commissioned producer/production house in a clear and timely manner, ensuring they understand and execute their works in adherence to the intentions and requirements of Astro Shaw.
- To assist in brainstorming with the Astro Shaw marketing team in coming up with ideas for the assigned projects release strategies and marketing campaigns and assist in creating selected marketing materials such as posters, mastheads and trailers/teasers for the assigned projects.
