About Orang Asli Education

We seek to empower Orang Asli children and youth - both in-school and out-of-school - through a Strengths-Based Education (SBE) programme rooted in Orang Asli cultural identity, knowledge and values, nurturing future leaders committed to long-term community transformation. Our current priority is developing and pilot-testing the SBE Toolkit to deliver quality, culturally sustaining education in Community Learning Centres (CLCs), and strengthening the capacity of CLC teachers to ensure long-term impact and sustainability.

Job Summary

This role requires a meticulous, tech-savvy individual with strong organising and research skills to provide efficient back-end support. Besides a passion for Orang Asli communities, the ideal candidate has good interpersonal skills, and is proactive, adaptable and resourceful in resource limited environments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assists in the various processes involved in the SBE Toolkit curation and pilot-testing

2. Ensures accurate and organised documentation of resources, including notes, photos and videos

3. Assists in the preparation and coordination of events

4. Undertakes other tasks, as assigned

Person Specifications

Qualification : Undergraduate studies in any related field; volunteering experience with indigenous and/or left-behind communities

Specific skills/abilities : Organising and coordinating skills; research skills; tech-savvy; problem solving skills; attention to details; ability to multi-task and work under pressure; communication skills, particularly across cultures

Personal qualities : Empathetic; principled; adaptable; innovative; resourceful; creative; motivated; team player

Other requirements : Willingness to travel to OA villages; Skills in visual communication or media design are an added advantage
