The Future of Mobility
Introduced in July 2018, Setel is a mobile platform that aims to delight customers by innovating for better, inclusive mobility. Setel serves customers across Malaysia by powering one app as the constant companion to ease motorists journey across fueling, parking, EV charging, motor insurance, road tax, auto assistance, general purchases, and more across an ecosystem of PETRONAS petrol stations, retail partners, and online merchants.
In this role you will:
- Monitor and analyse policy, regulatory and industry developments relevant to Setel, particularly across fintech, payments, mobility and energy.
- Conduct research on government agencies, regulators, policies and emerging issues that may impact Setel's business and strategic priorities.
- Assess the potential business implications of regulatory and policy developments, and support the team in developing recommendations.
- Prepare briefing notes, presentations, talking points and background materials for management and external stakeholder engagements.
- Support preparation for meetings and engagements with government agencies, regulators, industry associations and other external stakeholders.
- Maintain trackers on key policy developments, stakeholder engagements and follow-up actions.
- Conduct benchmarking and research on regulatory approaches and industry practices across relevant markets.
- Support the Strategy team on strategic projects, stakeholder engagement and other ad-hoc assignments.
- Assist with any related tasks, projects, and other assigned duties as and when deemed necessary.
- Ensure adherence to the compliance of company policies, industry regulations and legal requirements.
You're a great fit if you have/are:
- Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Business, International Relations, Law, Communications or a related discipline.
- Available to start in September/October 2026 and commit to a minimum 6-month internship.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesise information and identify key implications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in preparing concise summaries and presentations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace, particularly PowerPoint/Slides and Excel/Sheets.
- Strong interest in public policy, regulatory affairs, fintech, payments, mobility and/or the broader business environment.
- Curious, proactive and comfortable working with ambiguity and learning new topics quickly.
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with different stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Able to communicate clearly and work effectively with different stakeholders.
