What's the role
We are FIQ (Subscription & Development Platform IT), the team behind Hilti's cloud infrastructure and subscription services that power our digital business globally. As a Software Engineer Intern, you'll join our development teams working on business-critical cloud platform services including identity management, subscription APIs, and AWS infrastructure automation. You'll be part of an international, multidisciplinary team building and maintaining enterprise-scale microservices that serve millions of users across Hilti's digital ecosystem.
You'll contribute to real systems that enable Hilti's software and subscription business model, from customer authentication to billing integrations. Working alongside experienced engineers, architects, and product owners, you'll gain hands-on experience with modern cloud-native development, DevOps practices, and enterprise integration patterns.
What You'll Do
As a Software Engineer Intern in FIQ, you'll be part of our Scrum teams working on actual features and improvements for our cloud platform. You'll develop and enhance microservices that form the backbone of Hilti's digital infrastructurefrom Cloud SSO (our identity management platform using Auth0) to subscription management APIs that integrate with SAP Subscription Billing. Your code will go through the same rigorous review process as any team members, and you'll see your contributions deployed into our application environments and making impacts to Hilti software services and operations.
Core Development Activities
- Build and optimize cloud-based services
- Develop AWS infrastructure automation using Infrastructure as Code practices
- Implement integrations between cloud services and enterprise systems (SAP, Salesforce)
- Write clean, testable code following our coding practices and security guidelines
- Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and technical design discussions
- Contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements and DevOps automation

- APIs & Integration: REST, event-driven architectures

- DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitLab CI/CD
- Monitoring: Datadog, CloudWatch, distributed tracing
- Agile methodology: Scrum with 2-week sprints
