Our Asia Pacific Investments business has a large, dedicated and highly experienced investment team which has been investing across the region since 1985, and manages all our Asian products, including regional, country, smaller companies, and sustainable investing propositions.
The team has a strong regional footprint with offices in Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Seoul, and Sydney. This breadth gives us close proximity to the companies we own and the markets we invest in. Our APAC operations have been based in Singapore since 1992. We invest in Asian companies to grow with them and to help them to become better investors.
About The Role
The Malaysian equity team manages mostly institutional equity mandates for domestic clients and has seen its AUM more than triple in the past 8 years. To cater to this growth, we have been steadily expanding the breadth and depth of coverage of the local market. We are looking for an energetic individual to join our Malaysian equity team, to (i) generate equity investment ideas and using them to drive portfolio performance (ii) co-manage 1 or 2 domestic segregated mandates.
We want you to be able to focus the majority of your time on investing. This role involves very little non-investment work.
Primary Responsibilities
- Equity research Generate, drive action on, and monitor stock investments in the Malaysia market.
- Positively impact portfolios by generating actionable stock ideas.
- Provide clear investment recommendations to the team, both verbally and through concise write-ups when necessary.
- Work with peers and stakeholders to explain recommendations and answer questions on your recommendations.
- You will participate actively in the same peer review process and rigorously test ideas from other team members to ensure the most optimum recommendations proceed.
- Management of internal databases
- Fund management co-manage at a minimum of one conventional domestic portfolios with the Head of Equity, with the aim to consistently exceed targets. There is opportunity for the right candidate to in time become the lead manager on the portfolio.
- Collaborate with team members and colleagues in all portfolio moves
- Contributing to client performance reviews and board packs where required
Skills And Experience Required
- You must hold passion for investing and have strong analytical experience in investments.
- Demonstrable track record that spans both large caps and small/mid-caps.
- 1-3 years of fund management track record that demonstrates solid risk control.
- Excellent communication, team and collaboration skills
- Candidates with a strong track record in stock calls but with no fund management experience are welcome to apply.
