Job Summary
The IT Application Project Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and delivering application development, enhancement, integration, and transformation projects within the banking environment. The role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with banking regulations, security standards, and governance requirements while coordinating cross-functional teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end application projects from initiation, planning, execution, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support.
- Gather and validate business requirements with stakeholders including Business Users, Product Owners, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Technology teams.
- Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
- Lead application development projects involving Core Banking, Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, Payments, Cards, Loans, Treasury, or Wealth Management systems.
- Coordinate with Business Analysts, Solution Architects, Developers, QA/Testers, Infrastructure, Security, and Vendor teams.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular status reports to management and project steering committees.
- Manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and change requests.
- Ensure compliance with banking regulations, security policies, audit requirements, and IT governance standards.
- Oversee SIT, UAT, performance testing, security testing, and production deployment activities.
- Manage third-party vendors and system integrators to ensure contractual obligations and deliverables are met.
- Facilitate project meetings, workshops, and stakeholder communications.
- Support post-production stabilization and project closure activities.
- Drive continuous improvement in project delivery methodologies and best practices.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of Project Management experience in Banking or Financial Services.
- Proven experience managing application development and system implementation projects.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, and Hybrid project methodologies.
- Experience with banking systems such as Core Banking, Payments, Cards, Digital Banking, AML, Loans, Treasury, or CRM platforms.
- Knowledge of API integration, microservices architecture, cloud technologies, and enterprise application environments.
- Strong stakeholder management and vendor management skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience using JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, or similar project management tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP, PRINCE2, Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), Scrum Master, or equivalent certification.
- Experience with regulatory projects involving BNM, Basel, AML/CFT, PDPA, FATCA, CRS, or cybersecurity initiatives.
- Knowledge of ITIL and banking technology governance frameworks.
