Job Description

The IT Infrastructure Project Manager is responsible for leading and delivering infrastructure projects within a banking environment. The role covers data centre, network, server, cloud, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery initiatives while ensuring compliance with banking regulations, security standards, and operational resilience requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Governance
  • Manage end-to-end IT infrastructure projects from initiation to closure
  • Define project scope, timeline, budget, and resource plans
  • Track project progress, risks, issues, dependencies, and milestones
  • Ensure delivery within agreed scope, schedule, and cost
Banking Compliance & Risk
  • Ensure projects comply with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), internal IT governance, and audit requirements
  • Work closely with Risk, Compliance, Audit, and Information Security teams
  • Maintain project documentation for regulatory and audit reviews
Infrastructure Scope
  • Deliver projects involving:
  • Data centre setup, migration, and consolidation
  • Servers, storage, and virtualisation platforms
  • Network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, firewall, load balancer)
  • Cloud infrastructure (private, hybrid, public cloud)
  • Cybersecurity solutions (IAM, endpoint security, SOC tools)
  • Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity (BCP)
  • End-User Computing (EUC)
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
  • Act as the primary point of contact between IT teams, business units, and vendors
  • Manage system integrators and third-party service providers
  • Provide regular status updates to senior management and steering committees
Change, Release & Operations
  • Coordinate with IT Operations, Change Management, and Service Management teams
  • Ensure changes follow ITIL and bank change control processes
  • Support UAT, cutover, go-live, and post-implementation support
Risk & Issue Management
  • Identify and mitigate infrastructure and operational risks
  • Manage escalation of critical issues impacting banking services
  • Ensure minimal service disruption during implementation

Required Skills & ExperienceExperience
  • 512+ years of IT experience with 5+ years in infrastructure project management
  • Experience working in banking or financial services environments
  • Proven delivery of large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure projects
Technical Knowledge
  • Data centre, network, server, storage, and virtualisation technologies
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP hybrid experience preferred)
  • Cybersecurity fundamentals and controls
  • Disaster recovery and high-availability architectures
Methodologies & Tools
  • Project delivery using Waterfall and Agile methodologies
  • Familiarity with ITIL / ITSM processes
  • Experience with tools such as MS Project, Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow
Soft Skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in high-availability banking environments
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Certifications (Preferred)
  • PMP / PRINCE2
  • ITIL v3 / v4
  • Scrum Master (advantage)
  • Cloud certifications (AWS / Azure advantage)
