Role Overview

CGI Malaysia is seeking an IT Software Developer to build and support software applications that enable factory automation and production visibility. You will develop integrations with machines and industrial systems, implement data acquisition and monitoring capabilities, and deliver robust solutions that operate reliably in manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

1) Application Development for Factory Automation

.Design, develop, and maintain software applications supporting factory automation.

.Develop software integrated with factory machines and industrial automation systems.

.Implement real-time machine data acquisition, control, monitoring, and reporting interfaces.

2) Integrations & Manufacturing Systems

.Integrate production equipment with manufacturing monitoring systems and enterprise platforms as required.

.Collaborate with OT/IT stakeholders to define interfaces, data models and operational workflows.

.Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and performance issues in production-like environments.

3) Engineering Quality & Delivery

.Analyze user requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

.Participate in code reviews and follow coding best practices (secure coding, logging, performance, maintainability).

.Contribute to testing and release activities ensure documentation is maintained for supportability.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

.Experience with .NET, C/C#, Python, Node.js, and JavaScript.

.Database scripting experience with MS SQL Server, Oracle SQL, and PostgreSQL.

.Experience with version control systems such as Git or SVN.

.5+ years of relevant software development experience, including delivery and support of production systems.

Strong Advantage

.Exposure to industrial automation or manufacturing environments is preferred.

.Familiarity with industrial connectivity/protocol concepts (e.g., OPC UA, MQTT) and integrating with PLC/SCADA environments.

.Experience building reliable services for real-time/near real-time telemetry, buffering, and resilient edge connectivity.

Travel & Work Style

.Based primarily in Kuala Lumpur with on-site presence as required by the client and project needs.

.May require occasional after-hours / weekend support for planned changes, maintenance windows, or critical incidents.
