Job Purpose:
The Japanese/Korean speaking accounting specialist will be responsible for managing the accounting process for the Japan region, ensuring all transactions are executed accurately and efficiently.
Job Responsibilities:
- Accurately process bank transactions, including bank interest and charges.
- Perform daily cash flow forecasting and budgeting.
- Maintain exchange rates and perform revaluation processes.
- Prepare month-end and closing reports such as aging reports, bank reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, inventory reports, incentive reports, foreign exchange revaluation, VAT reports, and more.
- Maintain the fixed asset register and perform fixed asset postings.
- Prepare and post various general accounting journal entries, including payroll, banking journals, month-end inventory adjustments, withholding tax entries, accruals, deferrals, and prepayments based on the company's financial activities.
- Perform reconciliations for various general ledger accounts, including bank, prepaid expenses, tax, fixed assets, and other relevant accounts to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Maintain master data for general ledger accounts.
- Execute month-end closing activities and manage period opening/closing processes.
- Perform year-end balance carryforward procedures.
- Prepare monthly financial statements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to resolve accounting and operational issues.
- Regularly update desktop procedures and documentation.
- Ensure sector-specific satisfaction by delivering accurate and timely support.
- Lead billing and collections activities, addressing and resolving complex customer issues.
- Provide backup support for junior team members, including guidance, coaching, and responding to inquiries.
- Understand entity-specific processes and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
- Support internal and external audit activities.
Job Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting with relevant experience in accounting process.
- Prior experience in a multinational shared services environment, particularly supporting Asia Pacific countries, is preferred.
- For Japanese speaking candidate, Proficiency in Japanese is essential to support clients in Japan; JLPT N3 or higher is required.
- For Korean speaking candidate. Proficiency in Korean is essential to support clients in South Korea; TOPIK 5 or higher is required.
- Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English and Japanese/Korean.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (including advanced functions such as PivotTables, formula linking, XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, etc.) and Microsoft Word.
- Ability to deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines.
- Experience with SAP is an added advantage.
- Responsible, tactful, self-motivated, and eager to learn.
- Capable of working under pressure during month-end close and providing ad-hoc support as needed.
