Junior Credit Controller
Key Responsibilities
1. Credit Control & Collection
- Monitor Accounts Receivable aging reports and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Contact customers via email and telephone to obtain payment commitments.
- Issue statements of accounts, reminders, and demand letters.
- Maintain accurate collection records and customer correspondence.
- Escalate long outstanding debts to management when necessary.
2. Debt Management
- Investigate and resolve customer payment disputes.
- Work closely with Sales, Operations, and Customer Service teams to resolve billing issues.
- Recommend suspension of credit facilities for delinquent accounts where appropriate.
- Monitor and report overdue balances, bad debt exposure, and collection performance.
3. Credit Assessment
- Conduct credit checks on new customers before account creation.
- Review customer credit limits and payment terms periodically.
- Assess credit risk and recommend appropriate credit limits.
4. Cash Application & Reconciliation
- Verify customer payments and ensure accurate allocation against invoices.
- Investigate unallocated receipts and payment discrepancies.
- Reconcile customer accounts and maintain accurate debtor balances.
5. Reporting
- Prepare weekly and monthly Accounts Receivable aging reports.
- Track DSO, collection performance, and overdue debt trends.
- Provide regular updates to management on key debtors and collection actions.
Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma/Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
- Able to work independently and meet collection targets.
