Principal Accountabilities
This role supports the Finance team in carrying out day‑to‑day accounting and finance activities. The incumbent will assist in ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with internal procedures and statutory requirements. The position provides good exposure to core finance processes and opportunities to develop accounting skills in a structured environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with accounting tasks, including preparation and posting of journal entries, maintenance of accounting records, and support for month‑end closing activities.
- Help prepare basic financial reports, schedules, and reconciliations for internal reporting and audit purposes.
- Support Accounts Payable processes, including checking supporting documents and processing vendor and staff payments under supervision.
- Assist with Accounts Receivable duties such as invoicing, updating debtor records, and following up on outstanding balances.
- Perform bank reconciliations and assist with other account reconciliations, escalating discrepancies when identified.
- Support the preparation and submission of SST returns and other statutory filings, with guidance from senior team members.
- Assist during external audits and tax exercises by preparing documents and responding to routine information requests.
- Follow internal controls, procedures, and accounting standards under guidance to ensure compliance.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and support system updates or finance projects as assigned.
- Provide general administrative and ad‑hoc support to the Finance team when required.
Job Requirement
- Fresh graduate or up to 1 year of relevant experience in accounting or finance.
- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles, double‑entry accounting, and financial processes.
- Exposure to SST, month‑end closing, or audit work is an added advantage but not mandatory.
- Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; knowledge of accounting systems is a plus.
- Good attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Able to follow instructions, work systematically, and meet deadlines.
- Comfortable working both independently on assigned tasks and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Positive attitude, integrity, and eagerness to develop professional skills.
