Role Description The Junior Metallurgist is a full-time, on-site role based at the Selinsing Gold Mine in Kuala Lipis. This position supports day-to-day plant operations by monitoring metallurgical performance, sampling and analyzing process streams, and assisting in optimizing gold recovery. Responsibilities include supporting process control activities, tracking key performance indicators, preparing technical reports, and helping troubleshoot operational issues under the guidance of senior metallurgists. The role involves conducting test work in the laboratory, contributing to improvement projects, and collaborating with operations, maintenance, and safety teams to ensure stable and efficient plant performance. The Junior Metallurgist is expected to follow site safety procedures and participate in shift or extended hours as required by plant operations.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Metallurgy and Extractive Metallurgy, with the ability to apply principles to gold processing operations.
- Experience or aptitude in Process Control, including monitoring plant parameters and contributing to optimization of recovery and throughput.
- Knowledge of Leaching processes and related test work, including cyanidation or other gold extraction methods.
- Ability to assist in Failure Analysis of plant equipment or process deviations, identifying root causes and supporting corrective actions.
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or a closely related field.
- Basic laboratory skills, data analysis capabilities, and proficiency with spreadsheets and technical reporting tools.
- Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work safely in an industrial mining environment.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional operational teams; prior internship or junior experience in mining or mineral processing is an advantage.
