Job Description

About KPMG In Malaysia's Accounting Advisory Services

KPMG in Malaysia's Accounting Advisory Services (AAS) practice supports clients in navigating complex accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory challenges. The team works with organizations undergoing transformation—whether adopting new accounting standards, improving reporting processes, upgrading financial systems, or strengthening internal accounting frameworks.

AAS combines deep accounting expertise with practical implementation experience to help clients comply with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), Malaysian Private Entities Reporting Standard (MPERS), and global regulatory developments. As part of KPMG's broader Advisory practice, AAS works closely with finance leaders, auditors, and system integrators to deliver practical, high‑quality solutions that improve financial reporting accuracy, efficiency, and governance.

Joining AAS means being part of a team that plays a critical role in helping organizations modernize their accounting functions and meet increasingly complex financial reporting requirements.

Why this Opportunity Stands Out

  • Unique blend of technical and practical experience: Work on both high-level accounting advice and hands-on implementation projects.
  • Accelerated learning: Gain exposure to MFRS, MPERS, regulatory developments, and best practices in financial reporting.
  • Client-facing from the start: Engage with finance teams across industries, giving you insight into real business operations and challenges.
  • Diverse project exposure: No two projects are the same—expect to work on standards implementation, system projects, process improvements, and technical advisory.
  • Strong development pathway: AAS is ideal toward careers in accounting advisory, audit, financial reporting, and corporate finance.

What can you expect

As an AAS Associate, you will be involved in a variety of accounting advisory projects that span both technical and operational aspects. You will gain real-world exposure across:

  • Implementation of New Financial Reporting Standards: Support clients transitioning to new standards such as MFRS 9, 15, 16, or other emerging regulatory requirements.
  • Conversion of Accounting Frameworks: Assist in conversion exercises from legacy frameworks to MFRS or MPERS.
  • Accounting Systems & Process Implementation: Participate in accounting-related system rollouts and enhancements, working with clients to align system functionality with accounting requirements.
  • Accounts Backlog & Reconciliation: Support clean-up exercises including account reconciliations, backlog resolution, and strengthening month-end processes.
  • Development of Accounting Frameworks: Assist in designing accounting manuals, reporting packs, consolidation templates, and documentation that strengthen clients financial governance.
  • Short-Term Secondment Projects: Provide temporary support at client sites to alleviate resource shortages or support urgent accounting needs.

You will work as part of a collaborative engagement team, guided by experienced professionals who will support your development as a trusted accounting advisor.

How will you make your mark

You will contribute to the team by:

  • Applying your accounting knowledge to solve real client challenges.
  • Demonstrating analytical thinking and attention to detail in project deliverables.
  • Supporting managers in ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and accurately.
  • Upholding high standards of professionalism, quality, and integrity in your work.
  • Bringing a strong learning mindset and curiosity toward new accounting developments.

Your work will help clients strengthen their financial reporting capabilities and navigate the constantly evolving accounting landscape.
