RESPOSIBILITIES:
Clinical & Operations:
- Ensure timely and efficient delivery of laboratory services, including specimen testing, reporting, and quality control.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and analyzers.
- Ensure proficiency in laboratory techniques and adherence to Laboratory Information System (LIS) protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness, ensure adequate supplies, and support new service implementations.
Administrative:
- Assist in policy documentation, quality assurance, and cost control.
- Collect and provide accurate statistical data, including quality improvement and antibiogram reports.
- Support the Laboratory Manager in ensuring efficient service delivery and compliance with safety protocols.
- Perform additional duties assigned by management.
Staff Development:
- Stay updated on diagnostic techniques and maintain personal competency through continuous learning.
- Assist in training, mentoring, and evaluating junior staff.
- Contributes to planning and conducting orientation and training programs.
Quality, Safety & Health:
- Ensure adherence to ISO 9001 and ISO 15189 standards and maintain related records.
- Promote and comply with safety practices, including proper handling of hazardous materials and waste management.
- Participate in risk management, HIRARC, 5S, and environmental sustainability initiatives.
- Maintain proper hand hygiene and uphold organizational standards (e.g., KPJ Way).
Decision-Making & Latitude:
- Exercise limited decision-making authority within established policies and procedures. Significant clinical and managerial issues must be escalated to management.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in Biomedical Sciences or related field
- 3 years of experience with comprehensive understanding of laboratory procedures, techniques, and safety protocols.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment, analyzers, and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
- Knowledge of internal and external quality control practices and accreditation standards (e.g., ISO 15189).
- Awareness of health and safety regulations, including handling hazardous materials and waste management.
- Understanding of diagnostic testing in areas such as microbiology, biochemistry, hematology, immunology, fluid analysis, cytology, histology and blood transfusion service.
- Proven experience in performing laboratory tests and interpreting results.
- Hands-on experience with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Previous involvement in quality assurance and compliance initiatives.
