Role Overview

The Lab Technician supports day-to-day laboratory activities by conducting sample preparation, formulation trials, and testing to support technical service and commercial teams. This role focuses on accurate execution, documentation, and maintaining lab efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sample Preparation & Lab Support

• Prepare customer samples, formulations, and prototypes based on provided instructions.
• Assist in lab trials, product testing, and basic formulation work.
• Ensure timely preparation and dispatch of samples to customers and internal teams.

2. Laboratory Operations

• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper functioning of lab equipment and workspace.
• Handle raw materials, ingredients, and samples with proper labeling and storage.
• Monitor stock levels of lab materials and inform team for replenishment.

3. Testing & Data Recording

• Conduct basic tests (e.g., stability, pH, viscosity, visual checks) under supervision.
• Accurately record test results, observations, and formulation details.
• Maintain proper documentation and filing of lab records.

4. Support Technical Projects

• Assist sales team in product trials and customer projects.
• Follow instructions to replicate formulations and support benchmarking exercises.

5. Equipment Handling & Maintenance

• Operate basic lab and pilot equipment (e.g., mixers, homogenizers, ovens).
• Ensure equipment is properly cleaned, calibrated, and maintained.
• Report any malfunction or maintenance issues.

6. Health, Safety & Compliance

• Follow all laboratory safety procedures and company guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs, hygiene standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Use proper PPE and maintain a safe working environment.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Food Science, Food Technology, or related field
• 5–6 years of experience in a food laboratory or production environment
• Basic knowledge of food ingredients and formulation processes is an advantage
• Familiarity with lab equipment and testing methods
