Role Overview
This role is about making sure a technical laboratory can operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. You will take ownership of the systems and processes around the laboratory, working at the intersection of engineering, facilities, HSE, quality, IT, and external suppliers.
During the initial phase, you will play a key role in bringing new laboratory infrastructure and equipment into operation. You will coordinate open topics across multiple stakeholders, establish the required processes, and drive the lab toward operational readiness.
Once the laboratory is established, you will ensure that it remains controlled, compliant, documented, and continuously improved.
This role is for you if you are comfortable coordinating complex technical topics, driving open actions to closure, and creating structure where processes are still being built.
Key Responsibilities
Lab Build-Up & Equipment Readiness
- Coordinate laboratory infrastructure readiness including utilities, ESD, IT/networking, access, safety, and equipment installation requirements
- Coordinate delivery, installation, commissioning, and acceptance of new laboratory equipment
- Work with engineering teams, facilities, suppliers, logistics, and other support functions to resolve open topics
- Track dependencies, risks, responsibilities, and deadlines and actively drive actions to closure
- Coordinate equipment documentation, calibration, qualification, and handover into regular operation
Lab Operations & Processes
- Define, implement, and maintain laboratory processes, SOPs, and work instructions
- Coordinate laboratory operations and ensure equipment and infrastructure remain ready for use
- Establish clear responsibilities, workflows, and escalation paths
- Maintain structured documentation and ensure process and equipment changes remain traceable
- Identify operational gaps and continuously improve laboratory efficiency, robustness, and scalability
Equipment & Maintenance Coordination
- Establish and coordinate preventive maintenance and calibration activities
- Maintain an overview of equipment status, upcoming service activities, and open technical issues
- Coordinate equipment repairs and technical support with internal experts and external suppliers
- Support spare-part, service, and supplier management
- Develop sufficient technical understanding of the equipment to recognize abnormal behavior and initiate the appropriate escalation
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure laboratory activities comply with HSE, ESD, quality, and audit requirements
- Coordinate risk assessments, safety documentation, and required approvals
- Ensure equipment and laboratory processes meet applicable calibration, documentation, and traceability requirements
- Prepare the laboratory for internal and external audits
- Drive corrective actions resulting from audits, incidents, or identified process gaps
Coordination & Interfaces
- Act as the central interface between the laboratory and engineering, facilities, HSE, quality, IT, logistics, purchasing, and suppliers
- Coordinate activities across multiple stakeholders and ensure responsibilities are clear
- Maintain transparency on laboratory readiness, risks, dependencies, and open actions
- Support equipment procurement, transfers, logistics, and supplier activities
- Ensure important issues are escalated early and followed through to resolution
