Position Overview
The Landscape Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and overseeing all landscaping and grounds maintenance operations within the resort. The role ensures that all gardens, lawns, lakes, outdoor facilities, farm areas, orchards, herb gardens, and landscaped spaces are maintained to the highest standards, enhancing the overall guest experience while supporting the resort's sustainability and environmental objectives.
The Landscape Manager will lead the landscaping team, manage contractors and resources, oversee beautification and environmental initiatives, support the management of the resort's farm and agricultural landscape areas, and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plan, manage, and oversee all daily landscaping and grounds maintenance activities across the resort.
2.Supervise, schedule, and develop landscaping team members to ensure productivity, quality standards, and operational efficiency.
3.Maintain gardens, lawns, trees, shrubs, water features, lakes, pathways, and outdoor recreational areas to ensure an attractive and safe environment for guests and employees.
4.Develop and implement seasonal planting programmes, landscape enhancement projects, flower displays, and beautification initiatives.
5.Oversee irrigation systems, fertilization programmes, pest control activities, soil management, and plant health monitoring.
6.Coordinate and supervise landscape contractors, suppliers, and service providers to ensure quality work and cost-effective solutions.
7.Monitor and maintain landscaping machinery, tools, and equipment to ensure operational readiness and safe usage.
8.Conduct routine inspections of all landscaped areas and implement corrective actions where required.
9.Develop and manage the department budget, monitor expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
10.Support sustainability, environmental conservation, and ESG initiatives relating to landscaping and natural resource management.
11.Coordinate tree management, pruning, environmental risk assessments, and preservation of the resort's natural surroundings.
12.Work closely with Engineering, Housekeeping, Security, and other departments to ensure all outdoor guest areas are maintained to resort standards.
13.Support resort events, VIP visits, weddings, outdoor functions, and special projects by ensuring landscaped areas are presentation ready.
14.Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
15.Prepare reports, maintenance schedules, project updates, and budget forecasts for Management review.
16.Develop and implement landscape improvement initiatives to enhance the resort's aesthetic appeal and guest experience.
17.Oversee the maintenance and development of the resort's farm, herb garden, fruit trees, and agricultural landscape areas.
18.Support farm-to-table initiatives and sustainability programmes in collaboration with the Culinary and Sustainability teams.
19.Monitor plant health, crop production, and farming activities to ensure alignment with resort standards and guest experiences.
Qualifications & Experience
1. Diploma or Degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Agriculture, Environmental Management, or a related field.
2.Minimum five (5) years of experience in landscaping, horticulture, grounds maintenance, or related fields, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
3.Experience in luxury resorts, hotels, townships, parks, or large-scale landscape environments will be an added advantage.
4.Strong knowledge of horticultural practices, tropical plant species, irrigation systems, soil management, and pest control.
5.Familiarity with sustainability initiatives, environmental conservation, and ESG-related practices.
6.Experience in contractor management, project coordination, and budget administration.
7.Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and basic reporting systems.
8.Good communication skills in both Bahasa Malaysia and English.
Working Environment
•Primarily outdoor-based role with exposure to varying weather conditions.
•May be required to work weekends, public holidays, and flexible hours based on operational requirements and special events.
•Regular site inspections across the resort grounds, farm areas, and landscaped environments to ensure operational and presentation standards are maintained.
