Role Description The Laser Engineer will work on-site in Kulim in a full-time capacity, focusing on laser-based processes used in the production of IC substrates and printed circuit boards. Responsibilities include setting up, operating, and optimizing laser equipment for drilling, cutting, and structuring, as well as monitoring process parameters to ensure consistent quality and throughput. The role involves analyzing process data, troubleshooting equipment and process issues, and collaborating with production, maintenance, and R&D teams to improve yield and efficiency. The Laser Engineer will contribute to process documentation, support equipment qualification and new technology introduction, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Active participation in continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects is expected.

Qualifications

  • Technical expertise in laser processing, including laser drilling, cutting, or structuring, and familiarity with related equipment and process control.
  • Strong background in electronics manufacturing or semiconductor/PCB production, with understanding of IC substrates, printed circuit boards, or microfabrication processes.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and problem-solving, including use of statistical tools, root cause analysis, and process optimization methodologies.
  • Experience with equipment maintenance, qualification, and troubleshooting in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Relevant degree in engineering or a related field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Ability to work effectively on-site in cross-functional teams, communicate clearly, and document processes and findings in a structured way.
  • Knowledge of quality and safety standards applicable to industrial manufacturing; experience with continuous improvement (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is an advantage.
  • Willingness to work in a dynamic, international environment; English proficiency required, additional languages are beneficial.
