Lead clinical pharmacy services in specialized area/identified focus area, to maximize clinical effect of medication and impact on patient outcome and enhance medication management in the hospital.
Job Description:
Lead, deliver and evaluate clinical pharmacy services in specialized area to support the health care team in the effective use of medication for patient treatment.
Plan and implement Clinical pharmacy services in specialized area to meet patients needs; consistently demonstrating work output expected from the required level of professional competence and performance for the job, and in compliance with relevant laws, regulations and accreditation standards.
Monitor appropriate workforce and supervise the specialized area. Plan and assign staffing to respond to continual changes in patient population/census and their needs, and provide the best level of pharmaceutical care while identifying savings opportunities.
Collaborate with physicians, nursing and other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient care across the continuum.
Plan, develop, implement and maintain intra and inter-department quality assurance programs, clinical practice guidelines, new services and procedures, in accordance with company prescribed guidelines and accreditation standards to support best practices in medicines management.
Drive good clinical practice in terms of medication management and use, and in compliance to international accreditation by proactiveIy work with physicians and other health care professionals to develop, review, audit and feedback on the related clinical practice guidelines, clinical protocols, new services and procedures.
Conduct audits of locations in the hospital and take actions to ensure compliance to medication management standards.
Lead and engage employee to meet and exceed performance standards, manage employees performance in accordance to company prescribed policies and procedures on performance management system.
Coach and empower direct reports. Engage team members and actively stimulate generation of improvement and innovative ideas from the team for conceptualization and implementation.
Provide technical leadership in own specialized area members, through clinical and administrative meetings/discussions with them to maintain high standard of service.
Set performance goals and objectives for the team members and complete performance evaluation activities as required.
Lead, coach and engage the team members to achieve set targets and improve performance. Take on other staffing functions as and when required e. g. work on job descriptions, rostering, provide counsel and up hold discipline and rules, and verify claims. Identify and drive opportunities to enhance employee engagement that promote conducive working climate and staff retention.
Strengthen clinical competency of the team of clinical pharmacist, as well as perform continuous assessment and re-evaluation of competency to ensure constant delivery of high standard of clinical pharmacy services in the hospital.
Job Requirements:
Degree in Pharmacy recognized by Pharmacy Board of Malaysia. Additional qualification in specialized clinical pharmacy areas (e. g. Master in Clinical Pharmacy, Board of Pharmacy Specialist, or other equivalent qualification).
Registered Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia with current Annual Retention Certificate and valid Type A license (applicable upon joining)
Generally would have acquired up to 5 years of working experience in a hospital clinical pharmacy setting.
Demonstrated advanced knowledge of clinical pharmacy services, clinical care delivery processes, quality improvement to meet accreditation standards, with intermediate knowledge in operational management, finance, staffing and budgeting.
Ability to facilitate the technical implementation of new and expanded clinical pharmacy services.
Working experience in supervising a team of pharmacy professionals and managing initiatives and programs effectiveIy. Has sufficient depth and breadth of technical competence required for the job e. g. ability to translate complex technical or technological input for operational and clinical applications.
Working knowledge of Poisons Act 1952, Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, Sale of Drugs Act 1952, Registration of Pharmacist, Act 1951 and Medicines (Advertisement and Sale) Act 1956, and the regulations, other healthcare-related Acts, regulations and accreditation standards.
