What would you do
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a high-performing team of data engineers. You will provide technical direction, facilitate code reviews, and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement to ensure the team delivers high-quality solutions.
- Architect Data Pipelines: Lead the design and maintenance of optimal data pipeline architecture. You will move beyond writing ETL jobs to defining the patterns and frameworks that allow us to process petabyte-scale datasets efficiently.
- Data Literacy & Enablement: Champion the democratization of data. You will drive the adoption of self-service tools, create comprehensive documentation, and conduct training sessions to bridge the technical gap between engineering and business users.
- Reliability Engineering: Define and enforce Service Level Agreements (SLAs). You will implement robust monitoring, alerting, and self-healing mechanisms to ensure data pipelines meet strict uptime requirements.
- Governance & Compliance: Automate data retention, access controls, and PII masking to ensure strict adherence to PDPA and RMIT guidelines within the platform architecture.
- Operational Transition (SOPs): Develop comprehensive Business As Usual (BAU) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) after project delivery to ensure seamless operational handovers and sustainable system maintenance.
Who should join us
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Software Engineering, with specific expertise in relational databases and SQL tuning.
- Data Modelling: Expert-level knowledge of data modelling principles (Dimensional/Kimball, Star Schema) to design efficient data structures for analytics and reporting.
- ETL Architecture: Proven track record in designing and implementing complex ETL/ELT workflows that process large-volume datasets (structured and unstructured).
- Cloud Architecture: Deep experience in architecting software solutions on major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- DevOps Culture: Strong understanding of DevOps methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile ways of working (Scrum/Kanban).
- Software Engineering Fundamentals: Strong analytic skills and a software-first approach to data problems. You are comfortable treating infrastructure as code.
- Language Proficiency: Expert proficiency in at least one major language: Python, Java, Scala, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
