About the Role
We are seeking a Regional Lead Design Manager to lead the design management of critical infrastructure projects across APAC. This role will be based within SEA (Kuala Lumpur/Manila), working closely with the regional stakeholders.
This is a client-facing leadership role responsible for driving multidisciplinary design coordination, managing external design partners, and ensuring high-quality project delivery. You will play a key role in shaping project outcomes while also building and developing a team of Design Managers within the region.
Project & Design Leadership
- Lead end-to-end design management of complex, mission-critical projects
- Act as an extension of the Client team, ensuring alignment with project objectives
- Drive multidisciplinary coordination across internal teams and external consultants
- Lead project and technical meetings to ensure effective communication and delivery
Delivery & Commercial Management
- Manage project timelines, risks, costs, quality, and overall performance
- Oversee sub-consultant scope, performance, and deliverables
- Lead monthly commercial project reviews alongside Project Leads and Finance
- Identify and manage changes in scope, programme and design fees
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, including account management responsibilities
- Support business development and identify opportunities for growth
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Design Managers across varying levels
- Provide day-to-day coaching and guidance (typically managing 4–6 team members)
- Support project setup and conduct periodic reviews to ensure alignment with B&W standards
Operational Excellence
- Ensure adherence to the Black & White Design Management Way of Working
- Maintain accurate project records, reporting, and governance standards
- Collaborate with the Head of Design Management on process improvements and strategic initiatives
- Mitigate business risks through strong design oversight and financial control
About You
- International Mission Critical or specific Data Centre experience or complex engineering led assets
- Background in Engineering or Architecture (preferred)
- Strong experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants
- Proven track record in client-facing roles and leading project delivery
- Experience across RIBA Stages 0–5 (or equivalent)
- Ability to work across diverse geographies and manage international stakeholders
- Professional membership (preferred)
