Job Title: Lead Mechanical and Structural Inspector

Position Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and rigorous Lead Mechanical & Structural Inspector to join our construction team in Indonesia. Operating on a strategic 9 weeks on / 3 weeks off rotational schedule, you will oversee, monitor, and sign off on all mechanical and structural inspection activities. You will ensure that construction works strictly comply with project specifications, international codes, and our stringent quality assurance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Inspection & Quality Control
- Supervision: Lead and coordinate the inspection of all mechanical equipment installations (static and rotating) and structural steel works on the construction site.
- Compliance: Verify that all construction materials, welding procedures, and installation methods comply with engineering drawings, project specifications, and applicable international codes (e.g., ASME, AWS, API, ASTM).
- Defect Management: Identify, document, and report non-conformances (NCRs). Work closely with subcontractors and construction teams to implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Testing Oversight: Witness and approve critical testing procedures, including hydrostatic testing, non-destructive testing (NDT) review, and structural alignment checks.
Team Leadership & Coordination
- Manage and mentor a team of junior QA/QC inspectors on site.
- Act as the primary focal point for mechanical and structural quality matters between company management, the client, and subcontractors.
- Participate in regular progress and QA/QC meetings to report on inspection status and highlight potential risks.
Documentation & Reporting
- Review and approve subcontractor Quality Control Plans (QCP) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Ensure all inspection records, test reports, and as-built documentation are accurately compiled and maintained for final project handover.
Profile & Requirements
- Nationality: Singaporean or Malaysian citizens preferred (due to project/visa requirements).
- Experience:15+ years of extensive experience in QA/QC inspection within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or heavy energy infrastructure sector on major EPC projects.
- Site Experience: Proven track record working directly on active construction sites under demanding environments.
- Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of international structural and mechanical codes (AWS D1.1, ASME Sec VIII/IX, API 650, etc.). Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS CWI, CSWIP 3.1/3.2, NDT Level II) are highly desirable.
- Language: Full professional proficiency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory to collaborate in an international ecosystem.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, excellent communication skills, conflict-resolution capabilities, and an uncompromising attitude toward safety and quality.
