Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Level 3 advanced technical support for database platforms, focusing primarily on Oracle and MS SQL, with secondary support for MySQL and DB2.
  • Lead and supervise a diverse team of Database Administrators (DBAs) in a dynamic enterprise environment.
  • Offer technical guidance, mentoring, and performance coaching to junior and mid-level DBAs.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for database assessment, migration, and upgrade initiatives across Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, and DB2 platforms.
  • Ensure team compliance with company's IT service management processes, including service request, incident, change, release, and patch management.
  • Oversee response to critical system alerts from the Broadcom CA Unified Infrastructure Management (UIM) platform for Wintel environments.
  • Manage day-to-day database operations, including patching, hardening, maintenance, and service request fulfilment.
  • Lead and coordinate response during Priority 1 and Priority 2 incidents, ensuring timely database recovery and root cause resolution.
  • Supervise and participate in database health checks, maintenance, and server troubleshooting activities.
  • Develop and manage support schedules, including daily operations, holiday coverage, on-call rotations, and 24/7 standby support rosters.
  • Prepare and review Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports for critical database-related incidents.
  • Monitor and manage the team's Service Desk Plus (ManageEngine SDP) ticket queue to ensure timely ticket assignment and resolution in accordance with SLAs.
  • Plan and execute Disaster Recovery (DR) support and database maintenance activities to ensure business continuity.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports on Oracle Exadata / ExaCC capacity, issues, and risk updates.
  • Conduct annual performance appraisals for team members based on agreed KPIs.
  • Support regulatory and internal audit requirements by preparing audit artifacts and implementing remediation for audit findings.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance team productivity, efficiency, and operational resilience.
  • Demonstrate accountability by proactively managing business and regulatory compliance risks, taking appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging threats, and new technologies to strengthen database security and governance.
  • Identify and communicate potential risks, and promote best practices in risk management and compliance.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
