Ratio: 1 Teacher to 4 Students
1. Position Purpose
The Lead SPED Teacher is the primary architect of a child's progress at our center. You will lead one of our four specialized classrooms, managing a cohort of 4 students aged 6–10. Your role is to bridge the gap between clinical therapy and academic readiness, ensuring every child achieves their maximum potential through our Foundation and Boost programs.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Clinical & Academic Management (Morning Foundation)
- IEP Development: Design, implement, and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for 4 students, updated every 3–6 months.
- Curriculum Adaptation: Adapt KSSR/Cambridge Early Years literacy and numeracy content into multi-sensory lessons suitable for ASD, ADHD, and Dyslexic learners.
- Classroom Instruction: Deliver high-intensity 1:4 instruction focusing on school readiness and cognitive development.
- Therapy Integration: Collaborate daily with on-site Occupational and Speech Therapists to carry over clinical goals into the classroom setting.
B. Social & Life Skills Coaching (Afternoon Boost)
- Social Coaching: Lead Social Skills Training (SST) sessions, using social stories and role-play to teach peer interaction and conflict resolution.
- ADL Instruction: Facilitate Activities of Daily Living (ADL) training, teaching students independence in hygiene, meal management, and organization.
- Community Simulation: Run mock-up scenarios (e.g., grocery shopping, clinic visits) to build real-world confidence.
C. Leadership & Administration
- Aide Supervision: Lead and mentor 1–2 Assistant Aides, ensuring high standards of safety, sanitization, and transition management.
- Parent Partnership: Conduct professional parent briefings and provide detailed weekly progress reports via the center's communication app.
- Data Tracking: Maintain rigorous daily logs of student behavior and academic milestones to ensure data-driven intervention.
3. Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Minimum Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Psychology, Early Childhood Education (with SPED elective), or equivalent.
- Experience: At least 2–3 years of experience working with neurodivergent children (specifically Autism and ADHD) aged 5–12.
- Skills: Mastery of behavioral de-escalation techniques (e.g., ABA principles or Positive Behavior Support).
- Strong command of English and Bahasa Malaysia (Mandarin is an added advantage).
- Ability to write professional clinical/educational reports.
- Mindset: High emotional intelligence, patience, and a growth mindset for both students and self.
