Job Description

About The Role

We are seeking an analytical, strategic, and execution-driven professional to join RHB Bank as a Lead, Strategy & Special Projects Team 1. In this role, you will support the development and execution of group-wide strategies and value creation initiatives across RHB's domestic and international businesses. You will work closely with senior management, including the Group Chief Strategy & International Officer (GCSIO), Group Management Committee (GMC), and business leaders, to drive strategic analysis, facilitate decision-making, and deliver key strategic and special projects.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Assist the Head in performing strategic analysis and providing recommendations to drive the Group's long-term strategy and GMC-level decisions.
  • Conduct numerical analyses by developing financial models and business cases to support management decision-making and feasibility studies.
  • Perform competitive benchmarking through market studies, analyzing financial and operational performance, and identifying key competitive insights.
  • Prepare executive presentation decks, reports, and communication materials independently for internal and external stakeholders, including investor relations.
  • Structure and perform analyses with minimal oversight by breaking down complex problems systematically and suggesting creative, data-driven solutions.
  • Define data collection approaches, gather and reconcile information from multiple sources, and derive meaningful insights for strategic conclusions.
  • Analyze key strategic areas such as group portfolio focus, growth strategy, customer strategy, pricing, competitive positioning, distribution strategy, global footprint, M&A, technology investments, operating model, and workforce planning.
  • Identify, define, and execute value creation initiatives within or across business units, focusing on revenue uplift, cost optimization, process improvement, or capability enhancement.
  • Define project scope, success criteria, and risk mitigation plans; coordinate cross-functional workstreams to ensure alignment and timely execution.
  • Track and report project performance using dashboards and analytical tools, providing data-informed recommendations to optimize results.
  • Support the preparation of GMC and Board papers on key strategic and business topics as directed by the GCSIO or GMC members.
  • Maintain up-to-date awareness of competitor strategies and industry developments to benchmark RHB's performance and inform decision-making.
  • Support communication of RHB's strategic direction and performance to investors, rating agencies, and regulators in collaboration with Group Investor Relations.
  • Drive first-principles problem solving, business case modelling, and communication capability development within Group Strategy.
  • Mentor associates in hypothesis-driven analysis, financial modelling, valuation techniques, and effective written and verbal communication.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related disciplines; postgraduate qualification (MBA or equivalent) is an advantage.
  • Minimum 58 years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, investment banking, or related fields.
  • Proven ability to perform financial modelling, business case development, and strategic analysis independently.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with experience in hypothesis-driven analysis.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and other analytical tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality outcomes under tight deadlines.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, capable of working effectively across business units and functional areas.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and experience mentoring junior team members.

What We Offer

At RHB Banking Group, we value strategic thinking, collaboration, and continuous growth. You will have the opportunity to work alongside senior leadership in shaping RHB's corporate direction and driving impactful initiatives across the Group. We offer competitive remuneration, opportunities for career progression, and a dynamic environment that encourages innovation, analytical excellence, and professional development.
