SUMMARY:
The L&D Manager is responsible for designing, delivering, and enhancing learning programs that support frontline capability building across brands within the Fragrance categories. Operating at a group level, this role collaborates closely with brand, retail, and merchandising teams to align training content with business needs, elevate product knowledge, and drive retail excellence.
The trainer plays a key role in delivering onboarding, product, and service-related training, ensuring in-store execution is consistent and aligned with brand identity. This role supports the sustainability of learning programs through Train-the-Trainer (TTT), coaching, and content development, contributing to the growth of Valiram University.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:
Training Delivery & Execution
- Conduct engaging trainings for brands with Fragrance presence.
- Drive onboarding, brand-specific product knowledge, service excellence, and seasonal training needs.
- Facilitate Train-the-Trainer (TTT) sessions, Leadership Programs, and coach store-level leaders, and trainers to ensure knowledge sustainability.
- Lead training program initiative, expanding reach across regions and ensuring continuity and consistency in learning.
Program Development
- Customize learning content that fits brand DNA and business goals across stores in Valiram Group.
- Establish a strong partnership with brand leads, VM, and merchandising teams to localize training based on retail calendars, product launches, and customer profiles, to stay aligned with current business issues and opportunities related to learning and development.
- Ensure learning material is current, impactful, and aligned with Valiram's standards.
Retail Capability Building
- Reinforce service, selling, and product storytelling capabilities on the ground.
- Support the implementation of KPIs (e.g., ATV, UPT, conversion, mystery shopper scores) into coaching sessions.
- Conduct periodic learning assessments and track learner progress in partnership with store leaders.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work with internal stakeholders (e.g., HR, Operations) to align on training priorities and execution timelines.
- Coordinate with L&D and Talent Development teams to feed insights into broader initiatives (e.g., Valiram University modules, VCareers).
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, and vendors, to gather requirements, secure resources, and facilitate project execution.
Impact Tracking & Reporting
- Measure training effectiveness through surveys, field observations, and business performance metrics.
- Maintain training records and provide regular updates to Group Talent Development for review and reporting.
Support for Group Talent Development (GTD) initiatives:
- Human Resource Development Corporation (HRDC) Funds management
- Identify skills gaps and learning requirements across the Valiram Group and support evaluation of the overall impact on organizational performance.
- Ensure coaching sessions are executed, reinforcing individual development plans and overall talent initiatives.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's/University degree
- At least 5 years professional experience in retail operations, learning & development with proven track record of program impact
- Knowledge and experience in delivering training to leaders from store managers to brand general managers.
- Proven management skills leading, motivating, managing assigned team members to effectively define and deliver goals and objectives.
- Passionate and curious about human behaviour and culture.
- Experience with instructional design and learning methodology.
- Strong verbal and written English (essential), Bahasa (preferred) and Mandarin/Cantonese (preferred).
- Must be able to work with all levels of personnel both within and outside of organization.
- A confident communicator capable of inspiring collaboration and excitement around the topic in the stores.
- High degree of professionalism in communication, positive attitude, and teamwork with customers, peers, and differing levels of management
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and ensure top value and performance for peers and organization alike
- Creative, analytical, and thoughtful comfortable testing new ideas and working with the intent to drive positive change
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
- Occasional travel (domestic and international) may be required to support talent and development initiatives at various locations
