Job Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and update company policies, SOPs, and frameworks to ensure compliance with cross-border regulatory requirements, with particular focus on the payment line — including payment, banking, and VASP licensing regimes.
- Draft and review a wide range of legal agreements, including client agreements, service provider contracts, distribution agreements, tenancy agreements, etc.
- Oversee and maintain the company's legal and compliance framework, ensuring that practices across departments align with regulatory expectations.
- Research international laws, including cross-border licensing requirements, trading laws, data protection, and AML/CTF rules to ensure business units operate within legal boundaries.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and external service providers on all matters related to licence application and/or maintenance, corporate filings, and ongoing statutory and regulatory obligations.
- Provide legal advisory support on regulatory inquiries, potential disputes, internal investigations, compliance audits, and other legal issues as they arise.

What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Law or a related legal qualification.
- 2–5 years of experience in an in-house legal and compliance role (preferably within the financial services or payments industry) or experience as a practicing lawyer (in corporate or litigation).
- Proven experience in corporate legal drafting, contract negotiation, and reviewing a range of commercial agreements.
- Familiarity with AML/CTF regulations, including KYC/CDD, transaction monitoring, and reporting obligations relevant to payment and brokerage activities would be an added advantage.
- Experience supporting the payment line, including payment, banking, or VASP licensing is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity dealing with regulators such as ASIC, BNM, and other cross-border financial regulators is a plus point.
- Proficiency in English and Mandarin (reading, writing, and speaking) to communicate effectively with counterparts in Hong Kong, China and Australia.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving regulatory environment.
- A positive, proactive attitude with a strong sense of ownership and willingness to learn — mindset matters as much as experience.
