Role Description The Legal Associate / Pupil role is a full-time, on-site position based in WP. Kuala Lumpur at RSA Chambers central office. The role involves assisting in legal research, drafting and reviewing pleadings, contracts, opinions, and other legal documents across a broad range of civil, commercial, employment, and cross-border matters. The Legal Associate / Pupil work with the partners and the senior team to prepare case strategies, compile bundles, attend client meetings, and support senior lawyers in court hearings, arbitrations, and negotiations. Responsibilities also include monitoring legal developments, maintaining accurate matter files, and collaborating with colleagues to deliver timely, practical solutions to clients. The role offers exposure to complex, high-value work and the opportunity to develop strong advocacy, advisory, and transactional skills within a structured mentoring environment.

Qualifications

  • Recognized law degree (LL.B or equivalent & CLP or the equivalent unless exempted).
  • Strong foundation in Law, with exposure to civil, commercial, corporate, and employment matters.
  • Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation including drafting pleadings, contracts, opinions, and correspondence.
  • Demonstrated Analytical Skills and ability to address complex Legal Issues with structured reasoning.
  • Clear and professional Communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage clients and stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple matters under guidance and deadlines.
  • Commitment to professional integrity, continuous learning, and collaboration in a team-based environment.
  • Prior internship or experience is not required and will be considered only on an added value basis and not as cosmetic additions. Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
