Legal Consultant - Corporate & Commercial

We are seeking candidates with 5-8 years post-qualification experience, ideally gained at a leading law firm and/or a well-established global organisation, with a strong track record in commercial contracting and business-facing legal support. The ideal candidate will bring excellent stakeholder management skills, a practical and commercial approach to legal advice, and an interest in driving legal operational excellence through process improvement, governance, and transformation initiatives.

Who are we looking for

There is currently an increased demand for experienced commercial lawyers to support legal teams on a broad range of contracting, governance, and transformation initiatives. We are interested in legally trained professionals with the following attributes:

• 5+ years PQE gained at a leading law firm and/or a prominent global organisation
• Called to the Malaysian Bar
• Strong experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advising on a broad range of commercial agreements, including procurement, marketing, and other business contracts
• Proven ability to deliver pragmatic, risk-based legal advice to business stakeholders
• Experience working closely with procurement, commercial, marketing, and other corporate functions
• Exposure to legal operations, continuous improvement, legal transformation, or process optimisation initiatives
• Experience developing and maintaining contract templates, playbooks, best practice guidance, and standardised documentation
• Interest in knowledge management, self-service contracting, and capability-building initiatives
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across jurisdictions and functions
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and commitment to operational excellence
• Experience with legal technology, legal AI, knowledge management, or digital transformation initiatives is advantageous but not essential
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and quickly integrate into an established legal team
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment, with a commitment to attending the office three days per week and collaborating effectively with both in-office and remote stakeholders
• Availability to commence on short notice is preferred
