Legal Counsel

Aveva is looking for a Legal Counsel based in our Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia office. This is a Full Time Fixed Term role in 6 months duration. You will be part of an established legal team providing professional and timely advice to the various internal stakeholders including sales, operations, finance and HR, as well as participate in negotiations with the company’s partners and customers. The role will cover the APAC sub-regions and reports to the Associate General Counsel, APAC.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advisory and support to safeguard the interest of AVEVA business operations in APAC sub-regions on all legal and compliance matters
  • Perform cross function and multi-disciplinary legal support and advice to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and Group Legal guidelines
  • Advise, review, draft and negotiate commercial and software licensing agreements and other in-bound commercial agreements
  • Liaise with external legal counsels and relevant authorities as appropriate on specific legal matters
  • Communicating across functions and participating in the spread of knowledge and awareness of legal commitments and initiatives through the business


Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience as an attorney with experience in a top tier law firm or relevant in-house experience
  • Experience with global IT services company providing software licensing and maintenance services preferred
  • Good command of spoken and written English. Working proficiency in Chinese and knowledge of another Asian language would be a significant advantage
  • Excellent contract negotiation and drafting skills
  • Familiar with business culture and ethics in Asia and experienced in international business horizon
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Willing to travel
