Job Description

About the Role

BIPO is expanding our legal support model to better serve the Southeast Asia region, and this role will be the primary legal point of contact for commercial and contractual matters across SEA markets. Based in Malaysia, you'll own the full contract lifecycle for regional deals — negotiation, risk assessment, and closing — while acting as a strategic advisor to Sales, Commercial, and Management on how to grow the business safely and efficiently.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements (HR outsourcing, EOR, payroll services, vendor contracts) to support sales cycles across SEA markets.
  • Act as a trusted legal partner to Sales and Commercial teams — advising in real time during deal negotiations, not just reviewing after the fact.
  • Review terms for marketing campaigns, partnerships, and other business activities.
  • Manage legal documentation filing and support new entity setup as BIPO expands within the region.
  • Provide practical, business-feasible solutions on dispute matters — engaging early to de-risk rather than escalate.
  • Monitor SEA legislation and regulatory changes (data privacy, employment law, cross-border payroll compliance) and translate these into clear, actionable guidance for the business.
  • Share legislative updates and case learnings with business teams; run periodic training.
  • Support ad hoc assignments from the Head of Legal.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) and a valid Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP).
  • Minimum 5-7 years of post-qualification experience, ideally within commercial law firms and/or in a regional legal role.
  • Strong legal professional skills, including analytical, drafting, communication, and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to advise and educate business functions, navigate effectively within a matrix organization, and demonstrate sound conflict-handling skills.
  • Familiarity with the HR outsourcing, payroll, or consulting sectors is a strong advantage.
  • Comfortable working across multiple SEA markets and coordinating with regional stakeholders
