Job Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including but not limited to broking and placement agreements, terms of business agreements (TOBAs), client engagement letters, service agreements, outsourcing arrangements, confidentiality agreements, and other contracts arising in the ordinary course of the insurance broking business
- Provide proactive, business-oriented legal advice to senior management on corporate governance, risk management, dispute avoidance strategies, and the legal dimensions of strategic projects such as mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and corporate restructuring, identifying legal risks at an early stage and articulate clear, practical recommendations, including where necessary pushing back on proposals that present unacceptable legal or reputational risk
- Work with regional legal teams to ensure consistency of legal advice, share best practices, and contribute to regional legal projects and initiatives
- Responsible for the selection, appointment and management of external legal advisers, ensuring that the engagements are conducted in a cost-effective manner and that external counsel deliver work of an appropriate quality and within agreed timescales and budgets
Job Requirements
- Hold a law degree and be admitted to practise law in Hong Kong or a comparable common law jurisdiction (such as England and Wales, Singapore or Australia). Current practising certification is preferred.
- Relevant legal experience in insurance firms, private banking, wealth management, family office or financial services preferred
- Strong understanding of insurance broking operations or commercial contract frameworks
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills
