About the Role

We are seeking a commercially astute and proactive Legal Counsel to join the APAC legal team. This role offers a broad and varied portfolio, focusing primarily on commercial contracts while providing support across a range of legal and compliance matters. The successful candidate will act as a trusted legal partner to the business, ensuring sound risk management and supporting strategic objectives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary legal contact for Southeast Asia, managing the end-to-end contract lifecycle for a wide range of commercial agreements.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and revise various contracts, including client agreements, vendor contracts, leases, and other legal documents.
• Provide practical, business-focused legal advice to internal stakeholders on contractual issues, potential disputes, and general commercial matters.
• Collaborate with the wider legal and compliance team on regional initiatives and ad-hoc projects.
• Support the business in understanding and navigating relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and implement efficient contract management processes and legal knowledge resources.
• Manage relationships with external legal counsel as required.

Job Requirements

• A qualified lawyer, admitted to practice in Malaysia or in another Commonwealth jurisdiction.
• 4 to 5 years of Post-Qualification Experience (PQE).
• Essential:A balanced mix of experience gained from both a reputable law firm (private practice) and within a corporate legal department (in-house).
• Proven expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts is mandatory.
• Mandatory requirement:Professional proficiency in reviewing and understanding contracts written inMandarinand bilingual (English/Mandarin) documents.
• A commercial mindset with excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
• Highly organised, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities independently.

A competitive remuneration package of up to RM 13,000 per month is offered, commensurate with experience.
